With over 40 years of experience in education, I’ve held a wide range of senior roles, from classroom teacher, local authority expert unattached teacher to MAT CEO. This also includes roles as a Headteacher (for over ten years), Executive Headteacher, National Leader of Education (NLE), Teaching School Lead, and Pupil Premium Reviewer. I have worked extensively with schools across the East of England and London, supporting maintained schools, academies, MATs, Diocesan schools, and the independent sector.
I was honoured to be elected to the first Headteacher Board for the Eastern region working with other regional colleagues and the Regional Schools’ Commissioner. I served for twelve years on a Local Authority Schools Forum. I have also had a role as a Trustee/ Director in a large MAT.
I most recently led a multi academy Trust as CEO which I founded with colleagues from our small school. It developed into 6 primary schools, 5 new early years’ provisions, and a special provision for pupils with SEMH needs, as well as a teaching school and National support school. Outcomes for pupils in the MAT are in the top 11% of primary schools in the country.
In 2016, I was awarded the OBE for services to education as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday honours.
My inspection experience includes five years as a SIAMS inspector and ongoing work as a commissioned lead inspector for Ofsted. I continue to lead and support school improvement work, with a focus on sustainable leadership, system-wide effectiveness, and improving outcomes for all pupils particularly the most disadvantaged.
I enjoy in my spare time…beaches, reading, travelling, art and Greek history, language and culture.
