Session Structure and Context
This session initiates the Maths Network professional development series. It has been specifically developed in response to the recent curriculum review to furnish mathematics leaders with critical guidance necessary for elevating and raising educational standards.
The inaugural session aligns with subsequent, structured Maths Network sessions scheduled throughout the year. This session, and the ensuing network, provides an overview of recommended approaches for improving attainment in Key Stage 2 (KS2) and Multiplication Tables Check (MTC).
Key Focus Areas for the Network Series
- Strategic Curriculum Implementation:Providing a detailed overview of the changes associated with the recent curriculum review document, focusing on the implications for curriculum planning and subsequent delivery.
- Addressing Attainment Gaps:Offering practical guidance on supporting Special Educational Needs (SEN) pupils and those with lower attainment profiles to accelerate progress in mathematics.
- MTC Outcome Enhancement:Dedicated support for maximizing MTC outcomes and establishing robust progress tracking methodologies.
- Vertical Alignment:Strategic guidance focused on maximizing impact within Years 3–5 to ensure optimal preparation for Year 6 attainment goals.
- Excellence in Key Stage 1: Leading best practice development and implementation strategies within KS1.
- Inspection Framework Navigation:Analyzing the impact of current Ofsted expectations on mathematics leaders regarding the new inspection framework.
- Professional Collaboration:Facilitating the sharing of high-leverage best practices among peers.
The Impetus Education Mathematics Team provides highly experienced expertise in mathematics education. Their comprehensive experience spans curriculum development, implementation, and rigorous review across both UK and international contexts. This includes providing key input during round table reviews concerning the recent UK education curriculum reform. Sessions will be interactive and will create a Maths network alongside high quality training.
