This session looks to update subject leaders of PSHE with the national landscape, best practice and subject
knowledge. We will explore statutory guidance for Relationships, Sex and Health Education and the
necessary policies schools must publicise on their website; and PSHE’s role in preventing a decline in
children’s mental health with research-based activities that act as a protective measure for children’s
health and wellbeing. There will be a focus on best practice and delegates will have time to share and ask
questions.

1. National landscape update – General updates and guidance on statutory expectations for
RSHE and PSHE.

2. Policy and website essentials for RSE and PSHE – Specifically looking at RSE policy, and
what to publicise on your website, as well as wider PSHE considerations.

3. PSHE and mental health – How to speak about your subject’s role in protecting children’s
mental health. We consider some research-based activities/interventions that prevent a
decline in pupils’ mental health and how they link to PSHE.
