Paul has worked with children for over 25 years. Beginning his career as a nursery nurse practitioner after completing a BTEC in Childcare, Paul first worked with under 4’s before going on to complete a four‑year BEd (Hons) at Chester University.
He spent the first decade of his teaching career in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1, and has since taught across the whole primary age range through Key Stage 2. Paul has extensive experience supporting pupils with SEND and those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and has a long‑standing commitment to inclusive education.
Before becoming a headteacher, Paul served as a teaching deputy for eight years. He has now been headteacher of a large primary school for over a decade, leading a community with a uniquely rich demographic: 42 languages represented, 57% disadvantaged pupils, a quarter of pupils with SEND and outcomes significantly above national standards across the school for multiple years, including phonics, the Year 4 multiplication check and KS2 SATs. Under his leadership, the school has achieved highly successful Ofsted inspections, where it was praised as “warm, welcoming and fully inclusive… the school’s work with pupils with SEND is a strength.”
Paul is passionate about developing people, recognising that the strength of any leader is reflected in the care, growth and value invested in the team who support the children each day.
His dedication to education has been recognised nationally; he was awarded Primary School Teacher of the Year in 2017 and nominated for Headteacher of the Year in 2022.
Outside of school, Paul enjoys playing golf, going to the gym, running, and watching his beloved football team.
