I am Co-Chair Elect of the Association for Science Education, an education charity which supports excellence in science teaching. I have been a teacher for over thirty years, working across a wide range of educational contexts, including both inner-city and rural schools across England.
As a primary science specialist, I work as a Primary Science Consultant, delivering continuing professional development and initial teacher training. I hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Education, and I am passionate about inspiring curiosity, confidence and a lifelong appreciation of the natural world through high-quality science education.
In 2013, I was honoured to receive the Primary Science Teacher of the Year Award, and in 2021 my contribution to science education was further recognised by the Royal Society of Biology.
Alongside my consultancy work, I am a Development Lead and Professional Learning Partner for the Primary Science Quality Mark – working with schools to develop teaching and learning through their science curriculum. I also serve as an Ambassador for CLEAPSS, ESERO-UK and Explorify, and I am also an accredited Focus4TAPS trainer. In addition, I work as an education consultant on a number of BBC education campaigns and am an author for HarperCollins’ Snap Science, Testbase and other educational publishers.
