Trusts/Alliances/Schools we work with

Church schools

Several of the Impetus Team are current Headteachers of Church Schools (Church of England and Catholic school contexts). Several of the Team are also Registered SIAMS Inspectors. We therefore, as a team, have a detailed knowledge of Church School contexts and the Inspection Framework.

Local authority / Diocese

Impetus has a track record of working very closely with Local Authorities. It has developed particularly strong ties with East Sussex Local Authority and the Diocese of Gloucester. In both of these areas Impetus is delivering a range of brokered professional development opportunities to benefit schools and therefore learners in schools across these regions.

We currently provide support to 70 schools and 4 multi academy trusts through our programmes of improvement, and we’ve supported 31 schools in making the leap from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’. Below are case studies of two schools we have worked with.

Case Study 1 - Buttsbury Junior School, Essex

Buttsbury Junior SchoolImpetus has supported the journey of Buttsbury Junior School from a school ‘requiring improvement’ (Ofsted September 2013), to a school achieving a ‘good’ overall effectiveness judgement (Ofsted March 2015). The school now judges itself to be ‘outstanding’ (school self-evaluation). Support provided has included headteacher performance management reviews, data analysis and target setting validation, lesson dips and validations of school leaders’ judgements, governor training, and book scrutinies to validate leaders’ judgements.

"Impetus Education has been fundamental in supporting our school through a rapid period of change. Andrew's vibrant approach both motivates and inspires, whilst providing support and guidance for leaders at all levels. He has played a fundamental role in the significant progress of our school, covering all aspects of the Ofsted framework."

Ann Robinson - Headteacher, Buttsbury Junior School

Case Study 2 - Winchcombe Abbey Primary, Gloucestershire

Whinchecomb AbbeyImpetus has supported the journey of this school from a ‘requiring improvement’ grading in September 2012 (school self-evaluation), to ‘good’, and then an Ofsted validated ‘outstanding’ overall effectiveness in March 2017. The school also received an ‘outstanding’ overall effectiveness judgement in it’s SIAMS Section 48 Church School Inspection in 2017. Support provided has included headteacher / senior leader performance management reviews, data analysis and target setting validation, lesson dips and validations of school leaders’ judgements / book scrutinies to validate leaders’ judgements, SIAMS Church School inspection reviews, and governor training.

"We have worked with Impetus for over 6 years. The support, challenge and guidance for my whole school community, governors, leaders, teachers and teaching assistants, was pivotal to the school’s success when inspected earlier this year when we were judged to be ‘outstanding’. Andrew is always highly professional and supportive, and incredibly adaptive to the needs of his audience. Thank you."

"Andrew has worked with us for a number of years now which is testimony to how helpful we have found his input. He has assisted us on our journey from satisfactory to good with elements of outstanding. Always helpful, always to the point and with no hidden agenda."

Steve Hale, Headteacher, Chigwell Row Infants School

"Andrew Binnell has been supporting Buttsbury Junior School since May 2013 and has played a pivotal role in our journey from 'requires improvement' to 'good with outstanding features'. He has helped the school improve in all aspects and has shared many innovative ideas which have had a very positive impact on school life. Andrew has developed leaders at every level and ensured that the school continues to challenge itself. Many staff have also attended the CPD opportunities provided by Impetus Education and these have also had a significant impact."

- Ann Robinson, Headteacher, Buttsbury Junior School

"Andrew and the team at Impetus have been invaluable in successfully developing middle and senior leaders in carrying out their roles at South Green over the last three years. Andrew has also provided expert guidance and support to our Governing Body; developing their understanding of school evaluation and in coaching them to undertake Ofsted style interviews with confidence. What we appreciate most about working with Andrew is his ability to cut through to the most pertinent points for development and deliver targeted support that results in immediate improvement in performance for all those involved."

- Liz Benjeddi, Headteacher, South Green Junior School
